Check our events schedule for updates. Topics include:
Spring Vegetable Gardening for Kids: Your children will have fun learning the basics of vegetable gardening. This popular class will include “little” hands-on planting and seeding tips as well as craft activities.
Butterflies: Despite their small size, butterflies and moths are some of the World's most wondrous animals. Their beauty, seemingly miraculous metamorphosis, and apparently carefree flight all spark our imaginations. You children get handle and become familiar with the world of butterflies.
Bee Keeping: Your children will learn about bees: see how a bee hive works and how they are important in for pollinating our plants and flowers. No one will get stung.
Terrariums: Kids learn how to create a tiny self-sustaining indoor garden called a terrarium. Your kids will enjoy this interesting and fun activity creating their own terrarium that they can keep and take home. Terrariums mirror nature’s cycle of self-sustainability and demonstrates in a very teachable way a simple but complex cycle.
Fill The Bill: Taught by instructors from Mitchell Lake Audubon Center this activity will give your children a chance to try on a bird beak and see which works best…a hands-on way to teach kids about amazing adaptations in fun way. Plus the instructors will pass around some bird feathers and skulls to look at and have an informal chat / activity that will let your child create a bird of their own.
Bonsai for Kids introduces children to the Art of Bonsai. This is an interactive class where each student will actually plant and style their own little Juniper Bonsai tree. When the class is over, the student can take the tree home.
