Earth-Kind combines organic and traditional principles that help homeowners create lush yet environmentally safe gardens and landscapes. They are research-proven techniques that are successful and preserve and protect the environment. Techniques include using composting to improve existing soil conditions, proper mowing, effective irrigation methods that conserve water and using plant materials that are less susceptible to insects and diseases, Perez said. Topics include an Earth-Kind overview, Earth-Kind roses, improving existing soils, Earth-Kind turf management, selecting plants for South Texas, disease and insect management, and a question and answer session.
