Milberger's Planting Guide
For Pre-Chilled Tulip Bulbs

Your pre-chilled tulip bulbs will be available the first week of January. You will receive a call from the nursery as soon as they arrive. Then you can come into Milberger's Nursery to pick them up and you may pay for them at that time.

Your tulip bulbs will bloom within eight weeks after planting depending on soil temperatures. Blooms will last longer in cool and mild weather so it is important that you plant your bulbs soon after receiving them.

Tulip Planting Tips:

• Loosen the soil approximately 6" deep and add generous amounts of organic material.
• Plant bulbs three to four inches deep. Mass plantings make the most spectacular tulip displays. We suggest planting 40 bulbs per square yard.
• Since tulips are considered annuals in this area, it is not necessary to incorporate additional phosphorous or bone meal into the planting area. Better results will be achieved by applying a slow release fertilized at a rate of 3lbs per 100 feet.
• Plant tulips in areas that receive at least 4 to 6 hours of direct sun.
